Agramont Pitches @ERAUBaseball to Series Win Over No. 3 Columbus State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daniel Agramont and Garrett Goodall paired up to complete one of the best pitching weekends in recent memory for the Embry-Riddle baseball team on Saturday as the Eagles downed No. 3 Columbus State, 4-1. The Eagles (2-4) scored three runs in the sixth to break a 1-1 deadlock and Agramont and Goodall did the rest, as the Eagle pitching staff held the Cougars (2-4) to a total of three runs over the three-game series.

The only time the Cougars really threatened Agramont was in the first when the visitors put together a two-out rally to scrape across a run. Frank Wager doubled to right to drive in the game's first run, but Chase Brown was thrown out at the plate to end the inning and provide a little momentum to the Eagles.

ERAU tied things up in the second after a leadoff single from Luis Olivier. Olivier moved to second on a groundout and then scored when Cole Habig delivered a two-out RBI double, knotting the game at 1-1.

Over the next three innings Agramont and his counterpart Tyler Cadenhead faced little trouble as the game moved swiftly to the sixth.

After Agramont went 1-2-3 in the top of the sixth inning, the Eagles managed their own two-out rally in the home-half, starting with back-to-back-to-back singles from Kirk Sidwell, Zach Howard and Habig to load the bases. Mike Lawson worked the count to 3-2 against Cadenhead, and when the right-hander's payoff pitch missed high the Eagles took the lead on Lawson's RBI walk.

Cody Forster greeted new CSU pitcher David Dudal with a single up the middle on the first pitch he saw to bring in the Eagles' third run of the day, and a throwing error from the Cougar shortstop allowed Habig to score to make it 4-1.

Agramont tossed a scoreless seventh before Goodall took over in the eighth, working around a pair of one-out singles by striking out two straight Cougars, preserving the three-run lead.

Goodall had no time for any ninth-inning drama as he quickly got three outs, including two consecutive strikeouts to end the inning, game and series.

Agramont (1-1) got the win, scattering six hits and one run over seven innings with three strikeouts. Goodall earned the first save of his sophomore season in two frames of relief, striking out four.

Habig and Forster each ended the contest with a pair of hits.

ERAU is off until Tuesday, Feb. 19 when the Eagles play host to Flagler at Sliwa Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
