WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team registered one doubles and one singles win against Rollins on Thursday, but the Eagles were unable to come away with the overall team victory, falling to the 12th-ranked Tars 6-1 at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.
Rollins claimed the doubles point with wins at the second and third positions as Nicolo De Fraia and Frederick Danielson topped
Mickael Faucher and
Lucas Bos 6-3, and Atakan Gezer and Guillermo Nicolas bested Blake Rowheder and
Andres Donayre 6-1. The Eagles only doubles win of the afternoon came at the top spot where
Alexis Guedy and
Andrej Omeragic downed Ziad Melhaoui and Andrea Brignacca 6-3.
Playing at No. 5 doubles Gezer scored the Tars' first singles point with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Omeragic. Gai Feigin made it 3-0 Rollins with his 6-0, 6-4 win against Faucher on court four, and Brignacca held off Rowheder 7-5, 6-2 at the sixth spot to score the clinching point.
The Eagles' lone singles point of the day came at the third position where Bos rallied for a three-set victory over Melhaoui, winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Eagles will have a one-day rest before back-to-back neutral site matches against a pair of ITA/NCAA II Top 20 opponents. The Eagles take on eighth-ranked West Florida at 1 p.m. on Saturday and No. 15 West Alabama at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Both matches will be played at Valdosta State.
