MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference office announced the selections to the women's basketball All-Conference team on Thursday and the 2019 edition of the All-Conference roster featured three individuals from Embry-Riddle. Senior
Lauren Ellenberger and sophomore
Nikki Tucker garnered second team honors, while
Sarah Jones was tabbed as the league's Freshman of the Year.
The 2018-19 season marked Ellenberger's second straight appearance on the second team. An SSC Player and Defensive Player of the Week, Ellenberger averaged 12.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.9 steals, and finished with three double-doubles in her senior campaign. She ranked 11
th in the SSC in scoring, seventh in rebounding, second in assists and tied for third in steals. The Eagles all-time leader in assists (496), assists per game (4.5) and games started (110), Ellenberger ranks among ERAU's all-time top five in scoring (2
nd, 1011), made threes (2
nd, 181), rebounds (2
nd, 523) and steals (2
nd, 190), and has logged the most minutes of any women's basketball player to wear the Blue and Gold (3,477).
Tucker (Marshall, Michigan) was selected as the SSC's Player of the Week three times in 2018-19. She led the Eagles and was fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game, and tied for ninth in rebounding with 6.6 boards per contest. Her 81.6 percent clip from the free throw line and her 47.6 percent field goal percentage placed her at second and fourth, respectively in the SSC rankings. Tucker also worked her way into the Eagle record books when she recorded the program's single-game scoring high with 38 points against West Liberty (Nov. 24).
Hailing from Monroe, Ohio, Jones garnered ERAU Women's Basketball's second Freshman of the Year honor in the program's second season in the league. She became the first player in program history to score 20 points in her freshman debut with her 20-point tally against Clark-Atlanta (Nov. 10), and earned SSC Player of the Week honors as a result. Jones was 13th in the league in scoring at 11.7 points per game and averaged 3.8 points and 1.1 assists. She was also tied for ninth place in steals with 1.4 steals per game.
