Late Goal Sends @ERAUMSoccer To Setback in Overtime

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A hard-fought evening didn't result in a favorable outcome for the Embry-Riddle men's soccer team Wednesday night as the Eagles dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to #25 Florida Tech 1-0.

The evening saw staunch defense from both sides for the entirety of regulation, with scoring chances tough to come by for either side. The first half of play saw the Panthers (5-0-0, 1-0-0) get off six shots against the Eagles' defense, but none found home as four missed and a pair were saved by reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Week Gudmundur Sigurbjornsson

Embry-Riddle (1-3-0, 1-1-0) managed just two shots in the first half of action, one by Teddy West which was saved by Jason Fesquet, and one by Olav Olsen Aamlid that was blocked.

The second half saw a few more chances by each side to net the first goal of the evening, but it was not to be for either team. FIorida Tech managed four shots in the second half, two missing goal and two saved by Sigurbjornsson.

The Eagles managed to get off five shots in the final 45 minutes of action, as Collins Maude, Tim-Frederik Lange, Alex O'Brien, and West all tried to get the Blue and Gold on the board with the elusive first goal of the night.

Overtime didn't last long, as after a shot in the first minute by Hudson Ellis was blocked by the Eagles, the ensuing corner kick from Guillermo Segovia was headed in by Abram Murphy to end the game. FIorida Tech outshot the Eagles 12-7 on the evening.

The action resumes this Saturday as Embry-Riddle travels to the University of Tampa for a Sunshine State Conference matchup at 7 PM.
