PENSACOLA, Fla. – Juan Ortiz Couder and Andres Donayre were unable defend their 2018 regional title as the Embry-Riddle men's tennis tandem fell in the quarterfinals of the 2019 USTA/ITA Division II South Region Championship at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Sunday. 
 
The Eagles found themselves in a hole early in the contest falling behind Valdosta State's Florian Simbozel and Yohan Nguyen 5-1. Ortiz Couder and Donayre fought back to make it 5-4, and with VSU serving, the ERAU tandem had golden point, but they were unable to convert. 
 
With Simbozel and Nguyen leading 7-6, Ortiz Couder had another golden point opportunity but once again, the Valdosta State pair was able to come back to take the game and that point gave Simbozel and Nguyen the match.
