CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team fell in a hard-fought contest against Lee Saturday night by a score of 1-0. The Eagles (0-1-0) gave up a goal just past the midway mark in the first half and were unable to net an equalizer against the Flames (1-0-0) and their stout defense.
The Flames got all the offense they would need for the night in the 28
thminute, when Owen Keck found the back of the net on a pass from Eemeli Makela.
The Eagles were held without a shot in the first 45 minutes of action. Lee managed four shots, two coming from Jonah Bryan with Tristan Lyle and Keck each taking one.
The Blue and Gold had several opportunities in the second half to get on the board, but were unable to convert on shots by
Christian Mather,
Jesse Williams and
Gardar Benediktsson. The Flames were able to get off four more shots in the second half, as they outshot Embry-Riddle 8-3 in the game.
Jack Crichton,
Konstantin Kosoric and
Andy Gonzalez Leyva all made their collegiate debuts in the contest for the Eagles. Crichton recorded a pair of saves in goal for the Eagles before being spelled by
Gudmundur Sigurbjornsson.
The Eagles return to Daytona Beach to host another Gulf South Conference foe in the Shorter Hawks on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
