BOCA RATON, Fla. – In the final road match of the season, the Embry-Riddle men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by No. 19 Lynn (10-3, 6-2 Sunshine State Conference) on Saturday. It concluded a tough week of action that saw the Eagles (2-10-1, 1-6-1 SSC) face back-to-back ranked opponents.
The first half saw Embry-Riddle follow its usual stout defensive game plan. The Eagles faced attack after attack from the Fighting Knights as Lynn sent in five shots through the opening 22 minutes. Embry-Riddle stood strong and prevented the Fighting Knights from scoring up until the 38th minute. At that time, Lynn converted on a penalty kick following a foul inside the box.
Aside from the score,
Jack Crichton performed valiantly in the net in the first half. He collected four saves for the Eagles just 22 minutes into the match and then tied his season high with a fifth in the 36th minute.
Out of the break, Embry-Riddle applied some pressure on the offensive side by recording the first two shots of the second half. The first came close to leveling out the score when
Konstantin Kosoric fired a ball in from the top of the box in the 51st minute, but it was captured on the hop by the Fighting Knights' keeper.
Ten minutes later, the Eagles' deficit doubled when the Lynn crossed the ball in front of the net. The pass was directed from the top of a Fighting Knights' head into the right side of the goal for a second score.
Four different members of the Blue and Gold registered a shot in the match including:
Eden Bokobza,
Seth Conway,
Konstantin Kosoric and
Noah Sims. Kosoric had the team's only shot on goal.
Jack Crichton barely bested his season high in saves with six.
Embry-Riddle returns home for the final two matches of the season beginning with a contest against Florida Southern at the ERAU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
