HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team notched the most decisive win in program history in ERAU's final game of the Hoops in Hawaii Holiday Classic on Saturday. The Eagles downed Northwest Indian College 110-23 to match the program's single game scoring record set against Oakland City on Nov. 21, 2019. The win also marked the largest margin of victory (87 points) in program history.
All 12 players that took the court for the Blue and Gold got into the scoring column and tallied at least one rebound.
Macee Sugrue led all players with 14 points to go with four assists and two rebounds, while
Eva Zaragoza finished with her ERAU-best 13 points. Three players tallied 10 points apiece, including
Shelby Bischoff,
Rachel Murray and Jenna Teterycz who had the highest scoring performance of her young career.
Amou Ring also had a career high with eight points, as did Sadie Walsh Gay who finished with five points and a career best six boards.
Nikki Tucker dished out a career-best 10 assists as the Eagles set a new program single game assist record with 38, and tied her career-best steal mark with four.
Embry-Riddle took charge of the game early, opening the contest with a 6-0 run. NWIC was able to make it a one-point (8-7) courtesy of Imani Bighorn's jumper at the five-minute mark. NWIC kept it close and at the 3:48 mark, it was only a four-point (13-9) game, but a
Sarah Napoli three with 3:30 left in the first quarter triggered a 14-2 ERAU run.
From that point, the Eagles from Florida never looked back. They held their counterparts to just 12 points over the next three quarters combined to close out their trip to Hawaii and improve their overall record to 4-5.
The Eagles will get into the meat of their conference schedule when the team returns from the holiday break. First up is a road trip to Florida Tech on Dec. 30. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
