ST. LEO, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team fell to No. 10 Saint Leo (6-2) 6-1 in the Eagles' regular season finale on Saturday.
The Lions quickly claimed an advantage by winning all three doubles matches to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles. At the No. 2 spot SLU's Nina Furmaniak and Takhmina Zhanatova topped
Roberta Krvajica and
Alexis Marshall 6-2, while 15
th-ranked Molly Helgesson and Lavinia Lancellotti held off
Itxaso Blanco and
Mafalda Soares 6-4 at the top spot to clinch the doubles point.
The Lions won five of the singles matches in straight sets, but at the fourth spot, Marshall rallied from a first-set loss to best Lancellotti in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 to score the Eagles' only point of the day.
The Eagles wrapped up the abbreviate 2021 regular season at 3-6 overall and 3-6 in Sunshine State Conference play.
