Women's Soccer Defeats Palm Beach Atlantic 3-0 on Senior Night

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team earned its eighth win of the 2022 season on Wednesday with a 3-0 defeat of Palm Beach Atlantic at the ERAU Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-0-4 overall and 3-0-4 in the Sunshine State Conference while the Sailfish move to 1-6-3 overall and 1-3-2 in league play.

The Eagles came out ready to play. Just nine minutes into the match, Savannah Sheahan collected the ball in the Sailfish final third and slotted the ball to Isabelle Navren. Navren had a shallow angle but was able to open her hips and hit a driven ball into the upper 90, giving the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. The early goal left the Sailfish scrambling, looking to anything break down the Blue & Gold's defensive power. The Eagles excelled at shifting the ball side to side as a unit and creating opportunities on and off the ball. Constant give and go's, 1-2's and an overpowering midfield created their success. Two minutes later, Marie Myhrvold Seim battled for the ball in the Sailfish box and was able to send a beautifully weighted pass across the goal line to Saba Amiri who found the back of the net.

The second half showed more of the same from the Eagles. They continued to press high and make the Sailfish chase. Quick transitions, finding gaps and using the space and width of the pitch to dominated the Sailfish back line. Just a minute after the start of the half, Amiri tried her luck from outside the box. Her shot deflected off a Sailfish defender and eventually found its way behind Sailfish netminder.

The win gave the Eagles a victory in their final home match of the 2022 regular season and confidence moving into their next game on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.
