Women's Soccer Ties Saint Leo, 1-1

SAINT LEO, Fla.- The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team earned its fourth draw of the 2022 season on Saturday with a 1-1 tie against Saint Leo at the Saint Leo Soccer Field. With the draw, the Eagles move to 7-0-4 overall and 2-0-4 in the Sunshine State Conference while the Lions move to 6-3-2 overall and 2-3-1 in league play.

The first half showed good chances from both teams, and possession was fairly even. With just eight minutes remaining in the half, the Blue & Gold hit the crossbar, almost giving them the go-ahead in the match. By the end of the first 45 minutes, both teams combined for a total of three shots.

The battle for a goal continued in the second half. Five minutes into the half, Lions Alex Collighan struck the ball from outside of the Eagles' box, scoring the first goal of the match.

Six minutes later, the Eagles were awarded a free kick and struck the ball on net, but the shot trickled wide of the Lyons goal.

As the clock continued, the Eagles weren't done yet. With just six minutes remaining in the match, the Eagles' Sophia Munthe Nilsson served a ball into the box, and junior Isabelle Navren was able to direct her header into the back of the net, tying the game.

By the end of 90 minutes, the Eagles out shot the Lions 16-10.

The Eagles will look to stay unbeaten at home on Wednesday, October 12 against Palm Beach Atlantic at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
