DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team fell to NAIA No. 2 Keiser in its season-opener on Tuesday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Keiser won two of three doubles and five of six singles to win the match 6-1 to move to 1-1 on the year.
Doubles play began with a win for the Seahawks as Isabelle Perez Flores and Kanon Sorakubo downed
Jessica Wira Hadipoernomo and
Alessia Tripaldelli 6-0.
Julia Mautner and
Sabrina Ehrenfort evened things up with a 6-3 win over Kahea Companion and Joyce Nouws on court three, but the Seahawks won the doubles point when Nicole Coopersmith and Vanja Vidanovic bested
Itxaso Blanco and Carla Cabrera del Hierro 6-3 at the top spot.
In singles play, Keiser earned straight-set wins at the top three positions to seal the win.
Playing on court four, Ehrenfort notched the Eagles' only singles point of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Sorakubo.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host eighth-ranked Nova Southeastern at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
