ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team was unable to get by Lewis (Ill.) in a neutral site game hosted by Maryville on Sunday. The Eagles fell to the Flyers (5-2) 15-10 to move to 3-5 on the year.
The Blue and Gold went toe-to-toe with the Flyers in the first half. The Flyers scored first, but the Eagles netted the next two goals to go ahead 2-1 just over three minutes into the first quarter. The teams traded goals over the next few minutes and at the end of the period, the score was knotted at 3-3.
Embry-Riddle struck first in the second and recorded three of the first four goals to take a 6-4 lead with 9:25 left in the period. The Flyers answered and after the sides scored a goal apiece in the last five minutes, the game was still all tied up at 7-7 at the half.
The difference in Sunday's contest came in the third quarter as the Flyers outscored the Eagles 5-0 in that frame. Lewis held a 12-6 shot advantage and the Eagles managed just one shot on goal, giving Lewis a 12-7 cushion heading into the fourth.

Josh Bushong and
Michael Forte matched the Flyers three goals in the final 15 minutes. Trailing by six, the Eagles went on a quick 2-0 run to cut the Lewis lead to four, but they were not able to close the gap further in the final minutes.
Abbes and
Joe Anderson finished with two goals each for ERAU with Abbes also contributing two assists.
Lucas Fraser went the distance in goal, hauling in 10 saves.
The Eagles' next game will be against Maryville at 11 a.m. (CST) on Tuesday at the Maryville Lacrosse Field.
