AUBURNDALE, Florida - The Embry-Riddle baseball team won its eighth game in its last nine contests on Monday night at Lake Myrtle Park, claiming a pitcher's duel over Grand Valley State, 1-0. ERAU (9-12), scored the lone run of the night in the top of the first inning before riding the arms of
John Barone,
Casey Keller,
Tyler Stufano, and
Joe Balsam, as the quartet held the Lakers (9-5) to just seven hits, while fanning six Laker batters.
The one and only run came when
Jeremy Kennedy-Davis and
Robert Post hit back-to-back doubles with two outs in the first inning, and when Kennedy-Davis touched home on Post's hit, he scored the winning run.Â
Barone got the start for ERAU and went four strong, scattering five hits and one walk with four Ks.
Casey Keller came in for Barone to start the fifth and he went three, only allowing three base hits while striking out a pair of batters.
Stufano worked a clean eighth inning before Balsam slammed the door in the ninth, earning his second save of the 2022 season. The Eagle hurlers combined to strand eight Lakers on the bases.
Kennedy-Davis and Post both finished with two hits for ERAU, which only managed five total as a team.
