Baseball Finishes Off Season Sweep of Saints with 7-1 Win at Sliwa

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - Just a week after the Embry-Riddle baseball team completed a dramatic come-from-behind victory at Flagler's Drysdale Field, the Eagles didn't need quite so much drama at home, downing Flagler 7-1 at Sliwa Stadium on Tuesday. The Blue and Gold (18-18) had just seven hits, but scored seven runs against a quintet of Saint (18-21) hurlers, while J.C. Carrell, Tristan Harley and Karsun Barrett combined on a four-hit ballgame.

The Saints got their one-and-only run in the top of the first after back-to-back hits to lead off the game, followed by a sac fly. However, Carrell got the next two outs and then put it into cruise control for the next five frames, allowing just two more hits the rest of the way.

ERAU tied things up when Alex Britton, returning to the Eagle lineup after a few weeks, hit a fly ball to right that allowed Robert Post to score from third in the bottom of the second inning.

The game moved to the fourth inning at 1-1, but Britton gave the Eagles the lead with a double down the right field line, plating Garrett Bogart and it would prove to be enough for the hosts.

Jeremy Kennedy-Davis drove in two teammates in the fifth with a double, allowing both Zach Coldsnow and Andrew Martinez to score, and Bogart made it 5-1 Eagles with a single up the middle to plate Kennedy-Davis.

Kennedy-Davis collected his third and fourth RBIs of the night with a single in the sixth, bringing in both Martinez and Nick Hoffman and making it 7-1 in favor of Embry-Riddle.

Harley entered in the top of the seventh and faced the minimum over the next two frames, striking out four Saint batters before Barrett handled the ninth with ease.

Carrell (2-1) got the win for the Eagles, while Kennedy-Davis went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Britton finished 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

The Eagles return to SSC play this weekend when they host Florida Tech, beginning on Thursday, April 14 at 6 p.m.
