No. 3 Women's Soccer Secures Second Conference Win of the 2022 Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The third-ranked Embry-Riddle women's soccer team earned its second conference win of the 2022 season at home with a 3-0 defeat of Barry, Saturday night at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Eagles move to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Sunshine State Conference while the Bucs fall to 5-2 on the year and 1-1 in the SSC.

Both the Eagles and Bucs maintained good possession throughout the start of the first half. Just 17 minutes into the match, Sophia Munthe Nilsson dribbled down the left flank with pace and slotted the ball across the goal line for Marie Myhrvold Seim. Seim tapped it into the back of the net, giving the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.

About 17 minutes later, Seim found herself surrounded by Buccaneer defenders. Using her strong body and intelligent skill set, she turned her defenders, fell to the ground and remarkably was able to get a shot off sending the ball into the top right corner of the Buccaneer goal for he second goal of the night.

In the second half, the Blue & Gold fought hard to maintain their lead, but they weren't done yet. With just 12 minutes left in the game, Moa Karlsson's shot rattled the crossbar, almost giving the Eagles a three-goal advantage.

The Eagles earned their fourth corner kick of the night with five minutes left in the match. Munthe Nilsson delivered a great ball into the box where Grace Foyer headed the ball past Buccaneer netminder Emily Parrott to incread the Eagle lead to 3-0.

The Eagles will look to continue their success at home against Florida Southern on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
