DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team opened its 2022-23 season this weekend, hosting the annual ERAU Open at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The event featured competition over the course of three days, with weather having an impact, particularly on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Senior Alexis Guedy headlined the Eagle performances with a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend going 3-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles. He began his run with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Southeastern's Guido Luna, followed with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Flagler's Fernando Bulnes and capped the tournament with a hard-fought 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 win against Bulnes' teammate Pavlos Parson.
 
Doubles play saw Guedy team up with Michele Iftimie for a 6-4 win over Flagler's Jacopo Denitto and Jan Bartolome.
 
Lukas Schneider also had a good showing for the Eagles with a 2-1 record in singles and a 1-0 mark in doubles. He downed Diego Menendez of Southeastern's (6-4, 4-6, 10-8) and Christian Dellacioppa (6-2, 6-1), and teamed up with Luke Paschal for a 6-1 defeat of Dellacioppa and Nadal Ferrer.
 
Members of the Eagle squad will travel to Montgomery, Alabama for the 2022 ITA South Regionals. The tournament is being hosted by Auburn Montgomery, Sept. 23-26.
