DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 2022-23 season got underway for the Embry-Riddle women's tennis team this weekend as the Eagles hosted the annual ERAU Open. Rain had a significant impact on the tournament as the women were only able to play two of three scheduled singles matches and two of three matches in doubles.
The weekend finished with perfect singles records for
Sabrina Ehrenfort, Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoernomo,
Cabero del Hierro and
Rachel Swan. Ehrenfort notched wins against Latetia Rizk (4-6, 6-4, 11-9) and Irene Lopez (6-2, 6-3) , while Wira Hadipoernomo earned wins against Anais Gabriel (3-6, 7-5, 10-8) and Micah Sypert (6-1, 6-3). Cabero del Hierro downed Neleah Nieberleine (5-7, 6-1, 10-2) and Magda Hedrzak (7-5, 6-2), and Swan dispatched Nedezda Bijelic 6-0, 6-1 and Charlotta Buss 6-2, 7-5.
Members of the team will travel to Montgomery, Alabama for the 2022 ITA South Regionals. The tournament is being hosted by Auburn Montgomery, Sept. 23-26.
