ERAU Wins Fourth Straight Game of the Season with Second Consecutive Clean Sheet

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team earned its fourth straight win of the 2022 season at home with a defeat of the University of West Georgia, Sunday morning at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-0, while the Wolves fall 1-2. The Eagles came into the match with 20 shots on goal and were looking to add to their success.

The Eagles controlled the majority of possession in the first half. They continued to swing the ball from left to right, tiring out the Wolves and making them chase. In the 21st minute, defender Hattie Kettle played a long ball over the top to Ria Vlachos. Vlachos was able to slot the ball to Marie Myhrvold Siem who put the ball in the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the Eagles continued to out-possess the Wolves. With just 25 minutes left in the game, Grace Foyer struck the ball from outside the box to rattle the crossbar, almost giving the Blue & Gold a 2-0 lead.

Both teams combined for a total of 17 shots at the end of 90 minutes, 13 from the Eagles and four from the Wolves. The Eagles were able to hold on to their 1-0 victory, giving them their fourth win of regular season play and second consecutive clean sheet.

The Eagles will look to continue their success at home against Valdosta State on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
