DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team will open its fifth season of competition ranked 16th in NCAA II according to the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Women's Preseason Top 20 released on Wednesday.
The Eagles, who were ranked as high as 11th nationally in 2022, are coming off the most successful season in its young history after posting a 13-4 overall record. First-year head coach
Caitlin Villareal Kenahan, who was ERAU's assistant coach last season, will look to guide the Eagles back to the form that began the 2022 campaign with 11 consecutive victories, four of which were against ranked opponents.
Seven starters return for Embry-Riddle including All-Sunshine State Conference selections
Sallie Squire and
Emma Telatovich. Squire was the Eagles' leading scorer last season with 60 goals and four assists in addition to 37 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers and 55 draw controls. Telatovich was a mainstay in the Eagles' defense, starting all 17 games. She caused 14 turnovers, picked up 23 ground balls and won two draw controls.
The Eagles open the 2023 campaign at Flagler on Feb. 11.
