Men's Soccer Falls Late Away to Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. - Embry-Riddle men's soccer took a late loss in a conference matchup on Saturday night, losing in the last 10 minutes to the Saint Leo Lions.
ERAU (3-7-2, 0-7-1 Sunshine State Conference) was tied 0-0 for most of the game with SLU (4-6-4, 2-3-2 SSC), but an 81st minute go-ahead goal gave the Lions the win at Saint Leo Soccer Field.
A crucial moment in the first half occurred in the 43rd minute when sophomore goalkeeper Salvatore della Valle made a diving save low to his right to keep the score level at 0-0.

This save kept the score even going into halftime, after an evenly-matched first 45 minutes where the shot battle was nine to eight in Saint Leo's favor.
After 35 minutes of the second half SLU took the lead, as its 81st minute penalty kick was converted to go up 1-0.
Overall, Saint Leo led in shots 25-12, while also leading in shots on goal by a tally of six to two.
Fellow midfielders Tom Shepherd and Anthony Velez led the Eagles with three shots apiece, while della Valle made five saves in goal.
Embry-Riddle returns home for its penultimate home match, facing the No. 13 Rollins Tars on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Kickoff at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
