No. 17 Women’s Soccer Blanks No. 19 Flagler 2-0

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The 17th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's soccer team registered its fourth shutout of the season and its second in as many games with a 2-0 defeat of No. 19 Flagler on Wednesday. Marie Myhrvold Seim scored both goals for the Eagles who are no 10-1-3 on the year.

Wednesday's contest was the third multi-goal game for Myhrvold Seim who leads the Eagles with nine goals on the year.

The first half of play saw the Blue and Gold best the home team 9-7 in shots, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. The Eagles had several near misses before breaking the scoreless tie in the 25th minute. The play started with the Eagles building out the back before eventually finding Isabelle Navren deep in the right corner. Navren delivered a low cross into the box and an unmarked Myhrvold Seim controlled the ball and hit a volley into the back of the net in one motion to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

In the 67th minute, Lauryn Mateo won the header off a goal kick at midfield and the ball immediately fell to Myhrvold Seim. The senior dribbled 50 yards, evading defenders along the way before delivering a strike from the left side of the pitch past Flagler goalkeeper Jasmine Rehberger into the lower right corner to double the Eagle lead.

Embry-Riddle continued to pressure the Flagler defense and while the Eagles were able to create chances, they were unable to add to their tally, resulting in the 2-0 final.

Rehberger collected four saves for the Saints who are now 10-2-3 overall. Her ERAU counterpart, Oona Jokinen had three save enroute to her fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Eagles will play their final home game of the regular season on Saturday when they host Lynn at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
