HUNTSVILLE, Fla. – Senior
Kelly Steffens posted a career-best time to lead the Embry-Riddle women's cross country team at the UAH Chargers Invitational on Saturday. The Eagles totaled 384 points and an average time of 19:29 to take 14th place overall. Tampa (61 pts), Cedarville (72 pts) and Flagler (102 pts) were the top three teams in the 41-team field.
Steffens paced the Eagles with a time of 18:34.9 to place 47th overall.
Taylor Roth bettered her initial 5K time by 26 seconds, finishing 49th in 18:36.4.
Caroline Harris (18:56.5) was the next Eagle to cross the line, while
Kendall Mathis also ran the fastest 5K race of her career with a time of 19:09.8.
Alaina Rider (20:04.5) rounded out the Eagles' top five finishers.
Saturday's race was the Eagles' final tune up before they compete in the Sunshine State Cross Country Championships at Holloway Park in Lakeland on Oct. 21.
