DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team bounced back after a tough loss on Saturday with a gritty victory over Shaw, 89-75, Sunday afternoon in the ICI Center for the Bahama House Classic. The Eagles move to 7-3 on the season, 5-1 in the comforts of home.

The Eagles were paced offensively by
Cameron Shockley-Okeke who had a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds.
Danny Sully added nine boards of his own, just missing out on his fifth double-double on the year as he added 14 points to the cause.
Dru Nickson fired in 16 points, with a game-high five assists to go along with six rebounds. The junior finished 11-for-14 at the free throw strip as well.
Michael McCalister finished with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists in support of the Eagle offense.Â

The contest opened up as fast as a track meet, with seven lead changes in the game's first 12 minutes of action. Shaw used six threes in the opening frame to keep the Eagles at bay for much of the early going. Towards the end of the half,
Jon Alessandro laid in two baskets to put the eagles up 34-31, while Sully layup and Nickson free throw carried the Eagles into the break up a narrow 37-36.Â

ERAU locked in for the second half, however, notching 52 points in the game's final 20 minutes. Sully and Shockley-Okeke combined for the Eagles' first 10 points of the half, followed by five more consecutively from McCalister to extend a comfortable lead for the first time on the afternoon.

Midway through the second half,
Jerry Bracey II and
Nikola Jerotic combined to give ERAU an 11 point advantage, largest margin to that point by either team on Sunday, with only 9 minutes left on the clock. At about the 4:30 mark, ERAU scored the games next 10 points consecutively all on free throws to take a 20-point lead at 85-65 as the clock kept ticking. From there, the defense cracked down to secure the victory, 89-75.

The Eagles are back in Sunshine State Conference action on Dec. 30 when they travel to Nova Southeastern to close out the calendar year.
