BRADENTON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team wrapped up its 2023 Sunshine Conference Tournament appearance with a 4-0 loss to second-ranked Nova Southeastern (20-2) in the quarterfinals, Thursday at IMG Academy.
The Sharks gained an early advantage with wins at the top two doubles spots to claim the doubles point.
Singles play saw the Eagles win the first sets in three contests with 15th-ranked
Itxaso Blanco topping No. 3 Julia Razafindranaly 7-5 at the top spot,
Sabrina Ehrenfort besting Diane Follin-Arbelet 6-4 at No. 5 and
Alessia Tripaldelli grabbing a 7-5 advantage over Eva Goncharov at No. 6. However, the Sharks secured the points they needed with straight set wins at the second, third and fourth positions to advance to Friday's semifinal.
With the loss, the Eagles cap their 2023 campaign at 11-7.
