DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Freshman Rylan Malarchick helped lead the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team to another strong finish of second place with 48 points at the team's home meet, the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic, on Saturday. Seton Hall won the event with 23 points while the Eagles finished comfortably ahead of Flagler (110 points) and Florida Tech (126 points) in third and fourth. All 14 teams competed on an 8K course.

Only about half of the roster was available to race on Saturday as a handful of Blue and Gold runners participated in the Mountain Dew Invitational at the University of Florida on Friday.

In just his second collegiate race, Malarchick placed fourth with a time of 27:40.9, just 50 seconds back of the race winner and the fastest freshman time in the field. Fellow Eagle Ethan Stout also performed well, earning his first-career top-10 result with a ninth-place showing thanks to a time of 28:01.1.

Gavin Weinheimer (28:58.9) finished 12th in his first collegiate cross country race, just tenths ahead of teammate Ryan Musil (28:59.1).

Jake Fritz grabbed a personal-best placement of 20th with a time of 29:17.7 with Jacob D'Aleo following close behind in 22nd, also a career-high result.

Charles Hruda (55th - 31:11.9) and Mike Klein (61st - 31:51.3) also competed for ERAU.

Next up for the Eagles is the FSU Invitational on Friday, Sept. 29.
