Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Jake Howard

Men's Soccer falls 6-0 to Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Embry-Riddle Men's Soccer fell on the road in a Sunshine State Conference matchup as the Eagles (2-3-1, 0-3 SSC) lost 6-0 to the No. 15 Rollins Tars (4-0-3, 2-0-1 SSC).

Rollins scored to start the game, as their fourth-minute goal put ERAU down 1-0.

Rollins kept at it, and in the 16th minute a Luke Monaghan header cleared the would-be second goal out of danger.

The Tars would eventually double their lead, as a 39th minute strike into the top corner made the score 2-0.

Ferriol Caballe i Vila's first-half performance was a big help to ERAU, as he made multiple big saves to keep more goals out of the net, making multiple diving saves and stopping a one-on-one chance from Rollins.

Rollins outshot Embry-Riddle 14-1 in the first 45 minutes, having six shots on goal to one from the Eagles.

The Tars  tacked on a third goal in the 51st minute, putting RC up 3-0, and another goal nine minutes later made it 4-0.

The scoring wasn't done there, as goals in the 67th and 68th minute put Rollins up by six goals to round off the scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Salvatore della Valle, sophomore defender/midfielder Tomo Tanaka, junior defender Christian Alzate and freshmen midfielders Eden Haftzadi and Ethan Rosenblum all made their ERAU debuts during the match.

Embry-Riddle has a week off before its next game, as it's next matchup is against Florida Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Kickoff from Rick Stottler Field in Melbourne is set for 7 p.m.
