Men's Soccer ties Flagler in dramatic 4-4 thriller in St. Augustine

St. Augustine, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team was down 4-1 with just 17 minutes to go but managed to surge back and tie the Flagler Saints 4-4, the most goals by the Eagles since their 5-2 win at Francis Marion on Sept. 10, 2016, giving ERAU a result away from home to kick off the 2023 season.
Flagler (0-1-1) started the pressure early, getting their breakthrough in the seventh minute when a Morgan Miller shot went into the upper right-hand corner of the goal, putting the Saints in front 1-0.
Less than eight minutes passed before FC doubled their lead as Liam Fisch's goal made the score 2-0.

The Eagles (0-0-1) responded with a 42nd minute goal from freshman forward Jacob Callahan on an assist by junior midfielder Jano Baxmann, but Filip Sparavec scored 67 seconds later to restore Flagler's two-goal lead.
The Saints dominated the first half, with eight shots and four on goal compared to one of four Eagle shots being on goal. ERAU threatened twice in the 58th minute, but Flagler goalie Kevin Harr denied them with two saves in quick succession. The Eagles finally managed to cut the lead in half in the 74th minute, as junior defender Seth Conway assisted Eden Bokobza to make it 4-2. It would be less than three minutes until the next goal, as freshman forward Riley Aldana scored to cut the Flagler lead to 4-3.
And just 36 seconds later, Callahan scored his second of the game in his college debut, tying the match up at 4-4. In total, Flagler had 14 shots to Embry-Riddle's 13, with the Saints and Eagles having nine and six shots on goal respectively. Sophomore goalkeeper Ferriol Caballe i Vila (0-0-1) made four saves in his Embry-Riddle debut, while four different Eagles had shots on goal. Embry-Riddle plays again on Friday, Sept. 8, facing the Spring Hill Badgers for their home opener at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
