Game Recap: #12 Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Downs Lynn 65-51

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team picked a big Sunshine State Conference win on Saturday evening downing Lynn 65-51 at the ICI Center. Following Saturday's result, the Eagles now stand at 9-3 overall and 3-2 in the league, while Lynn drops to 7-6 and 2-3 in the SSC.

Kailey Turpening made program history in the Eagle win setting a new program mark for single-game assists with 12, eclipsing the record set by Lauren Ellenberger in 2017. Turpening also pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, while another underclassman, Mary Lengemann, led all players with 12 points. Madyson Jean-Louis tallied 11 points and freshman Kyra Haan finished with 10 points four boards and two steals.

The first half was all Embry-Riddle as the Eagles outscored the Fighting Knights 38-19 in the first 20 minutes. The Eagles opened the game on a 12-2 run and behind a 46.2 percent (6-of-13) shooting clip that included three made threes, the Blue and Gold maintained the 10-point advantage going into the second frame.

Embry-Riddle turned things up a notch in the second quarter, shooting 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the field and 80 percent (4-of-5) from long range to lead by as many as 22 points in the second 10 minutes of action. The Eagle bench scored 11 of the team's 19 second quarter points, led by a pair of threes from Sarah Napoli resulting in the 19-point halftime lead.

The Lynn offense came to life in the third quarter, connecting on nine of their 14 (64.3 percent) field goal attempts. At the 4:04 mark, Lengemann finished a Laurie Satchell pass to make it a 23-point (50-27) game in favor of the Eagles, but Lynn held ERAU scoreless over the remainder of the quarter and used a 13-0 run to make it a 10-point (50-40) game heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter featured four made field goals each for the Eagles and the Fighting Knights. The Eagles finished the period with an 15-11 scoring advantage, thanks in part to a 7-of-8 output at the free throw line, to secure their third SSC win of the season.

The Eagles play their second home game in row on Wednesday when they welcome Palm Beach Atlantic to the ICI Center. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
