MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After splitting a doubleheader with Auburn Montgomery on Friday, the Embry-Riddle baseball team fell in the series finale on Saturday, 7-1. The Eagles move to 4-3 on the young season after going 1-2 in its first away series.
Â
ERAU nearly plated the game's first run with runners on second and third after an
Alex Britton walk and
Camden Traficante double, but it was the Warhawks who jumped out ahead. Similar to last night, AUM plated a few runners early, but this time the Eagles couldn't muster up the runs for a comeback bid again. AUM scored twice on its first five batters in the first, then added another to make it 3-0 after one frame.
Â
After a scoreless second inning, the Warhawks added three more runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead.
Robert Post connected on his third hit in two days in the fourth, Britton doubled in the fifth, and
Dylan Brazil doubled in the seventh, but it wasn't until
Nate Selmont's double in the eighth that the Eagles got on the board. After
Dillon Lifrieri and
Drew Clymer both earned walks, Selmont's two-bagger into left field gave ERAU life with its first run.
Â
The Eagle staff came together to tally 10 strikeouts on the afternoon, led by
Isaiah Eberheart's three over the final two innings.Â
Â
After the loss, ERAU returns to Sliwa Stadium on Tuesday when Edward Waters visits for the first game of a split home-and-home series with the Tigers.
