WINTER PARK, Fla. – Despite holding Rollins to just two hits through seven innings, the Embry-Riddle baseball team dropped game two of a three-game set with the Tars (6-5, 1-1 SSC) on Saturday, 8-1. The Eagles (6-4, 1-1 SSC) will look for redemption in the rubber-match on Sunday.
ERAU collected six hits on the day, half of which came from
Chase Bruno. Bruno went 3-for-4 on the afternoon, while
Camden Traficante added the power, sending out his first home run of the year in the top of the eighth. He went 2-for-2 with the homer and two walks.
Tristan Harley earned the nod for the Saturday game, putting together a respectable 6.0IP with two hits and two runs allowed, striking out four and walking six.
The Tars struck first in the bottom of the second on a sacrifice fly. RC added another run in the sixth with a double to right field to make it 2-0. The Eagles went quietly in the sixth and seventh, but Traficante's loud homer killed the shutout. In the top of the eighth, putting the Eagles within striking distance at 2-1.
But a six-run eighth inning for the Tars allowed the home team to escape with the win.
The Eagles return to Alfond Stadium tomorrow for a 1 p.m. showdown for game three against Rollins.
