DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Head Coach Caitlin Kenahan's 11th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team rallied from a four-goal first quarter deficit to topple No. 7 Rollins, Friday at the ERAU Lacrosse Field. Friday's win was the Eagles' first against an opponent ranked seventh or higher and was the first in program history against the Tars.
 
The Eagles begin its Sunshine State Conference slate at 1-0 and improve their overall record to 5-1, while the Tars, who suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, move to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the SSC.
 
Eliana Enners notched her fourth five-goal game of the season and totaled seven draw controls and three ground balls. Callison Foreman added four goals and four ground balls, while Ava Rogala and Samantha Reich chipped in two goals each. Ella-Rae Cox entered the game at the start of the second quarter and finished with a career high eight saves and four ground balls.
 
The Tars scored four goals in the first three and a half minutes on the way to a 4-1 lead over the Eagles. The Eagles cut the lead to two (4-2), but a three-goal run by the Tars gave them a 7-3 advantage at the 3:45 minute mark. Back-to-back goals by Foreman and Enners cut the lead to two (7-5), but the Tars scored the last goal of the period to lead 8-5 heading into the second.
 
The Eagles owned the second quarter, outscoring the Tars 5-1. Reich and Caitlin Gavin scored within 30 seconds of each other to start the period and Rogala's goal at the 7:49 mark tied the game at 8-8. The Eagle defense held the Tars scoreless for more than 13 minutes in the second quarter and at the half Embry-Riddle was ahead 10-9.
 
The Tars wasted little time in finding the equalizer as Madison McGarry knotted the score at 10-10 just 90 seconds into the third. The early score was not indicative of how the rest of the period would go, however, as Embry-Riddle and Rollins managed just two goals apiece to keep Eagles' scoring margin at one goal (12-11) with 15 minutes left to play.
 
Enners won the draw to start the fourth quarter and that win led to a Rogala goal that made it 13-11 for the home team. The teams exchanged draws and goals over the next two minutes, but at the 10:33 mark Jorie Alf scored the first of two consecutive Rollins goals, which tied the score at 14-14.
 
A big save by Cox preceded another Enners goal to make it 15-14 with 5:33 left to play. Enners won the ensuing draw and the Eagles had several chances at goal as they maintained possession over the next two minutes, but the Tars eventually won the ball on an Eagle turnover and turned it into a goal on the other end tie things up again at 15-15 with 2:31 remaining. Rollins called a timeout immediately after the goal, but it was Gavin who won the next draw for the Eagles and with 2:05 showing on the clock, Enners made the Tars pay for a shooting space violation as her free position goal put the Eagles back in front 16-15.
 
The next draw was won by the Tars, but Kaitlyn Henry's second caused turnover of the game gave the ball back to the Eagles who held possession for 69 of the last 75 seconds to pull out the win.
 
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday when they host Southern New Hampshire at the ERAU Lacrosse Field. First draw is slated for 12 p.m.
