Women's Basketball Falls to Lynn, 68-58

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team came up short in its bid for a win in its regular season finale, falling to Lynn (14-14, 9-11 SSC) 68-58 on the road on Saturday. The Eagles wrap up regular season play at 19-8 overall and finished third in the 2023-24 Sunshine State Conference standings with a 13-7 league record.

Back-to-back treys by Kyra Haan and Jenna Teterycz gave the Eagles a 6-2 advantage early in the contest. The Eagles remained in front until a 5-0 Lynn run tied the score at 10-10 at the 4:47 mark. Embry-Riddle briefly reclaimed a two-point lead via a Sarah Napoli jumper, but another Fighting Knight scoring run put the home team up by eight (20-12) before a Napoli three reduced the lead to five (20-15) at the end of the first.

At the midway point of the second quarter, the Lynn lead was back up to eight. With the Eagles trailing 28-20, Teterycz knocked down a jumper to key a 9-0 run that gave Embry-Riddle a 29-28 edge with 3:11 left in the half. The only points in the final 3:11 came in the form of two Lynn free throws, which gave the Fighting Knights a 30-29 edge at the intermission.

Lynn was able to win the third quarter, thanks in part to the Eagles' offensive struggles. Teterycz opened the scoring for the Eagles at the Eagles at the 8:26 mark. Following that bucket, however, the Eagles, who shot just 15.4 percent from the field in the third, went seven minutes without a field goal, which enabled Lynn to create separation and go up by 16 (49-33) heading into the fourth period.

With 7:56 left in the game, the Lynn lead had grown to 19 (54-35). The only baskets over the next four minutes were a fast-break layup by Chandler Brooks and a jumper by Teterycz and with 3:17 left, the Lynn lead was 17 (57-40). The Eagles were able to narrow the gap to 11 (57-46). With just over a minute remaining, they looked to the long range shot and after a series of three misses and three offensive boards, Haan drilled her second three of the game to cut the lead to nine (61-52).

Embry-Riddle tried to lengthen the game by sending the Fighting Knights to the free throw line, but Lynn connected on 10 of 12 free throws in the final 36 seconds to close out the game.

Madyson Jean-Louis paced the Eagles with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Teterycz finished with 13 points and three boards and Haan chipped in 10 points and three steals.

The Eagles have locked up the No. 3 seed in the 2024 Sunshine State Conference tournament and will host a quarterfinal game at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the ICI Center.
