Winter Park, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team traveled to Baker Family Stadium to take on Rollins College on Wednesday evening. The non-conference match-up between two conference rivals resulted in a disappointing 3-0 loss for the Eagles.
The Tars started strong, launching an early shot just one minute into the game, but it didn't challenge the Eagles' goalkeeper,
Salvatore della Valle. The initial shot didn't faze the Eagles as they exchanged possession and shots with Rollins, with Embry-Riddle's
Matteo Moreno Madrid taking the Eagles' first shot. However, it was the Tars who struck first after 28 minutes, capitalizing on a mistake by Della Valle when Finlay Train found the back of the net.
This didn't fire up the Eagles who remained to rely on their defense. Yet, just before halftime, Rollins' Mikkel Fodstad scored, extending the lead to 2-0 at 39:12.
After regrouping in the locker room, the Eagles emerged with energy.
Alexander Hasenohrl had the first shot of the second half, but once again it missed the target. Rollins quickly countered, and Pedro Limeira scored the Tars' third goal, placing the ball in the top left corner at 65:14. The Eagles struggled to find their rhythm after that, ultimately falling to a 3-0 defeat.
The Eagles hit the road for their first conference match up on Saturday. They will travel to Tampa, Florida where they will take on the University of Tampa at 7 p.m.
