Women’s Basketball Opens 2025 With Road Win Against Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team picked up its first win of 2025 on Thursday. The Eagles defeated Lynn 63-52 on the road to keep their record in Sunshine State Conference play unblemished.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
• The Fighting Knights scored the first bucket, but the Eagles answered with a 7-0 run to go up 10-3.
• The Eagle defense force five Lynn turnovers and held the Fighting Knights to just two made field goals in the first 10 minutes.
• The first quarter featured end-to-end play with just one foul called on each team.
• Embry-Riddle was 30 percent (5-of-19) from the field and led 12-5 at the end of the first.
 
Second Quarter
• The Eagles extended their lead to 22-11 to open the second quarter
• Both sides made seven field goals, but the Fighting Knights bested the Eagles 2-0 in three-pointers in the period.
• Embry-Riddle was scoreless in the last 3:14 of the quarter and Lynn went on a 6-0 run in the last 2:58 to cut the lead to four (28-24) at the half.
 
Third Quarter
• Early in the quarter, the Eagles struggled to hold on to the ball, committing three turnovers inside the first four minutes.
• The Fighting Knights capitalized on the miscues, cutting the lead to two (34-32) with 6:07 left in the period.
• A three-point play by Turpening triggered a 12-4 run that put the Eagles up by 10 (46-36) at the 2:41 mark.
• Baskets by Jean-Louis and Staton made the score 50-38 in favor of the Blue and Gold heading into the fourth.
• The Eagles were 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from the field and outscored Lynn 22-14 in the third quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
• Lynn edged the Eagles 14-13 in a tightly contested fourth quarter.
• Back-to- back threes by Turpening and two straight layups by Satchell helped the Eagles widen the gap to 19 points (63-44).
• Lynn went on an 8-0 run in the final 3:07.
 
NEXT UP
The Eagles are back on the road for another SSC contest next Wednesday when they travel to Lakeland for a 5:30 p.m. tip against Florida Southern.
