Tough Third Inning Dooms Baseball in Loss to Rollins

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A nine-run third inning spelled doom for the Embry-Riddle baseball team as the Eagles dropped the second game of the three-game Sunshine State Conference series to Rollins, 15-4, Saturday at Sliwa Stadium.

Third Inning
• The Tars used seven hits and two Eagle errors to plate to nine runs in the top of the third.
• Mason Wilson hit a three-run home run to score the first three runs of the inning.
• Following a Rollins pitching change, the first two batters in the bottom of the inning reached via a hit-by-pitch and a single.
Matthew Coker worked a two-out walk, but the Tars got a strikeout to end the Eagle rally.
 
Fourth Inning
• A two-out single drove in the Tars' 10th run of the game.
• The bottom of the fourth saw Noah Clymer single and advance to second on a wild pitch.
Alex Imposimato singled to move Clymer to third and Clymer scored on Collin Mastromauro's single to left.
• The Eagles' second run came when AJ Marinello drove in Imposimato with a single to right center.
 
Fifth Inning
• The fifth inning saw Wilson hit his second home run of the game to drive in three more runs.
 
Sixth Inning
• Three free passes led to two more Rollins runs in the top of the sixth.
• The Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth but were unable to push any runs across.
 
Seventh Inning
Timo Aracena led off the home half of the seventh with a double to left center.
• Both Noah Clymer and Drew Clymer got on base after being hit by a pitch to load the bases once again.
• Aracena scored on an Imposimato ground out and Aiden Schmidt singled home Noah Clymer for the final runs of the game.
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles and the Tars wrap up the three-game series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
