Baseball’s Win Streak Snapped by Panthers

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A lengthy seven-game winning streak for Embry-Riddle Baseball, its second of the season, came to an end on Tuesday night as the Eagles lost a non-conference matchup 8-4 against Florida Tech. ERAU was limited to just four hits after recording 13 or more hits in six of the previous seven games leading up to this contest.

1st Inning
  • In just his second start of the season, Nick Rich was in command early on.
  • He struck out a pair of Panthers and picked off a baserunner.
  • For the rest of his three-inning start, Rich kept the visitors scoreless with just two hits.
4th Inning
  • A couple of base knocks and a wild pitch allowed the Panthers to score first and lead 1-0.
5th Inning 6th Inning
  • Over the next two innings, Florida Tech steadily increased its lead with two runs from four hits and two defensive miscues.
7th Inning
  • ERAU also took advantage of some errant throws in the seventh.
  • The Eagles scored three runs without even recording a hit as AJ Marinello's sac fly put Embry-Riddle ahead 4-3. 
8th Inning
  • FT put together a two-out rally as the Panthers strung together three-straight singles to level the score.
  • A throwing error then allowed two more runners to touch home, putting the score 6-4 in favor of the visitors.
9th Inning
  • The Panthers added two insurance runs with a leadoff walk and a pair of singles.
