Women's Tennis Sweeps Singles to Secure 6-1 Victory Over IUP

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The No.4 Embry-Riddle women's tennis team overcame a slow start to defeat Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), 6-1, on Sunday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, the Eagles came back in singles play, sweeping all six courts.

  • The Eagles picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, where the duo of Jessica Christa Wira Hadipoeromo and Charly Egger claimed a dominant 6-1 victory over Asel Calbay and Isabelle Torres. However, this was the only doubles win for the Eagles, and they found themselves trailing 1-0 heading into singles play.
  • Alessia Tripaldelli put on a strong display winning 6-1,6-1 against Annemiek Sterk at No.6.
  • Benedetta Sensi turned it around after doubles with a strong singles display against Daniela Ramos 6-2, 6-1 at No.3.
  • No. 36 Jessica Wira Hadipoeromo continued her strong season with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Ming Deewajee at No.2
  • Carla Cabero del Hierro was dominant, winning the first set 6-0 against Hannah Beitat at No.4 before securing the 6-0, 6-3 victory.
  • No.61 Laura Cuesta Bret cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win against Lieselotte Hartlohne at No.1
  • Franziska Kremerskothen completed the Eagles' singles sweep after coming back from a set down to defeat Calbay 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6) at No.5
