LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team dropped the first game in a three-game series against 11th-ranked Florida Southern on Thursday. The Eagles had 10 hits, three walks and a hit batter, but left 10 runners stranded in a 20-6 loss to the Moccasins.
Cooper Schmidt,
Max Kops and
Aiken Santana had two hits apiece while
Drew Clymer drove in two runs in the Eagle effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Inning
•
AJ Marinello started the game with a lead-off homer to right field to give the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.
• The Eagles put two more runners on base but were unable to push another run across.
• The lead was short-lived as the Moccasins scored five in the bottom of the inning to go up 5-1.
Second Inning
• A double and a home run helped FSC add three more runs in the second.
Fourth Inning
• After the Moccasins scored another run in the third, the Eagles got one of their own in the fourth.
• Santana hit a two-out double to right centerfield and scored on
Elias Campbell's single to center.
Fifth Inning
• The teams combined for 11 runs in the fifth.
• In the Eagle half of the inning, singles by Schmidt and Kops and a walk to
Timo Aracena loaded the bases for Clymer.
• Clymer hit an 0-1 pitch to the wall in right field to score Schmidt and Kops on his sixth double of the season.
• A ground out scored Aracena and Santana's second hit of the night scored Clymer to cut the FSC lead to three (9-6).
• The Moccasins countered with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to increase their lead to 16-6.
Sixth Inning
• The bottom of the sixth inning saw the Moccasins hit their sixth homer of the game to add four more runs to cap the scoring.
