ERAU Women's Lacrosse Fights Off Trojans to Advance in NCAA II Tournament

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team continued the hunt for the crown as they made it past the first round of the NCAA II tournament for the first time in program history. The Eagles soared past the University of Mount Olive 20-14, with senior attacker Kenley Zeruto matching her single-game assist record with nine.

  • The Eagles now lead the all-time series 4-0.
  • This was the largest margin of victory the Eagles have had in all matchups.
  • The first game was in 2022 in Mount Olive, N.C. with the Eagles winning 14-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • Zeruto opened the game with her 31st goal of the season with an assist from Ava Rogala at 11:53.
  • Zeruto remained a key game player providing back-to-back assists, one being to Evelyn Leonard who scored the first goal of her career to take the Eagles 3-0.
  • The Trojans came back within one, but Caitlin Gavin finished the quarter with a goal at 30 seconds to go.
Second Quarter
  • The Blue in Gold kept the momentum going in the second half with a four-goal spurt and four different goal scorers, Callison Foreman, Gavin, Natalie Jansky, and Samantha Reich.
  • Defensively ERAU was dominant holding the Trojans to four shots on goal compared to the Eagles' 11.
  • Reich had the final goal of the half with a Jansky assist to take the Eagles to 11 for the lead at half.
Third Quarter
  • Mount Olive opened the scoring at 12:25 but this was quickly conteracted by Reich with a goal at 12:07.
  • A four-goal spurt from the Trojans brought them back to within three but Jansky put a stop to it at 2:19.
  • Another goal apiece ended the half 14-10 still in the Eagles' favor.
Fourth Quarter
  • Rogala changed the momentum again towards the Eagles as she found the back of the net twice within the 12th minute.
  • The Trojans' went on a three goal run but that was put to a stop by the Eagles with two.
  • Enners sealed the win for the Eagles with a Lucy Pickle assist, resulting a 20-14 final score.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
  • Zeruto matched the single-game record she set earlier this season with nine assists. Also in her stat line was one goal, 10 points, and two ground balls.
  • Jansky set a personal best this game with six points, made up of four goals and two assists.
  • Emily Silliman led the Eagles with a career high three caused turnovers.
  • Leonard, senior, scored the first goal of her career while also collecting one ground ball.
