Women’s Soccer Plays to Goalless Draw with Blazers

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Ninety minutes was not enough to separate Embry-Riddle and Valdosta State on Wednesday evening. The Eagles (1-0-2) and Blazers (1-1-3) were evenly matched, with VSU narrowly outshooting ERAU 12-11. This was Embry-Riddle's second consecutive draw, but its first match since being ranked No. 8 in the USC national poll.

ALL-TIME SERIES
  • Embry-Riddle leads the all-time series 3-0-2.
  • This marks the first time the Eagles have not scored against the Blazers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • An end-to-end first half saw the Eagles and Blazers register a combined 13 shots and four shots on goal. 
  • Berglind Thrastardottir was the only ERAU player to register a shot on target in the first half. Agnes Vigholm registered a pair of early shots but couldn't test the Blazers goalkeeper.
  • Stella Roane made a fantastic save off of a free kick in the opening stage of the second half to keep the match scoreless.
  • A header from Lauryn Mateo struck the outside of the post in the 60th minute after a corner kick from Thrastardottir.
  • Embry-Riddle's last shot on target came in the 83rd minute when Mateo drove a low shot on target from a free kick.
  • The Eagles earned three of their nine total corner kicks in the final five minutes, but were not able to create a shot on target from those late opportunities.
