No. 20 Women’s Basketball Holds On For 70-65 Win Over Eckerd

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle women's basketball earned an impressive win over Eckerd in the ICI Center on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles led by 13 points in the fourth quarter, before a comeback effort by the Tritons saw them make it a one possession game. ERAU saw four different players score at least 10 points this afternoon, with both Laurie Satchell and Eliana Sheplee tied for the team lead with 17. The Blue and Gold shot .357 (5-for-14) from behind the arc this afternoon, their best shooting performance in SSC play so far this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • Each team made was on the board within the first 30 seconds, as Laurie Satchell converted an early layup off the opening tip, before Jaylen Ostenson hit a three to put the Tritons ahead 3-2. That was the only lead Eckerd would have in the game.
  • After that, Eckerd was held scoreless for the next six minutes, seeing Embry-Riddle take a commanding 12-3 lead.
  • The Eagles defense forced Eckerd to shoot just .167 from the field in the first quarter, going 3-for-18, meanwhile ERAU shot nearly 50% hitting a pair of early threes.
  • By the end of the opening quarter, Satchell had already scored eight of her 17 total points
Second Quarter
  • Embry-Riddle forced three turnovers from the Tritons in the early stages of the second quarter, forcing a timeout while they were down 22-11.

UP NEXT
