Embry-Riddle Drops Game Two in Series Against Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Embry-Riddle and Eckerd split the series after a close contest. The Tritons were first to strike but the Eagles rallied to take the lead. However, a late inning push from Eckerd earned them the win. The Blue and Gold will look to bounce back and claim the series win in their first SSC matchup of the spring.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Inning:
  • Eckerd's Ean Gimson hit a leadoff single and then stole second
  • Corey Hodierne doubled down the right field line to score Gimson off second
  • Hodierne advanced to third off a ground-out
  • Hodierne came around to score from third off a sac-fly
  • Christian Cabina singled down the left-field line and came around to score off a double from Luis Garrido
2nd Inning:
  • Drew Clymer earned a leadoff walk to put a runner at first for the Eagles
  • Derek Lopez knocked in a single to put two runners on base
  • Max McClusky drew a walk to load the bases for Embry-Riddle
  • Francisco Feliciano kicked in a double to score Clymer and Lopez
  • Aidan Schmidt followed up Francisco's double with a double of his own to score Feliciano and McClusky and take the lead for the Eagles
  • Schmidt came around to score off a single from Cole Bullen to give Embry-Riddle a 5-3 lead
  • Eckerd's Joey Bazydlo singled back to the pitcher to put a runner at first
  • Gimson drew a walk to put two runners on base

3rd Inning:

  • Lopez reached first off an error from the catcher then advanced to second pushing Santana to third
  • McClusky loaded the bases off a hit by pitch
  • Diego Hornedo reached first off a fielder's choice as Santana was thrown out at home
  • Felciano reached first off a fielder's choice, which allowed Lopez to score. Both Hornedo and McClusky were safe at second and third respectively due to an error from the second baseman
  • McClusky came around to score the eighth run for the Eagles off a sacrifice fly
  • The Triton's Cabina recorded a single to reach first
  • Garrido singled to plate two runners for the Tritons
  • Both Garrido and Cabina came around to score off a double from Anthony Lino bringing Eckerd within one run of Embry-Riddle
4th Inning:
  • Hodierene doubled to left field 
  • Hodierne came around to score the tying run off a single from Hunter Rebhan
  • Rebhan advanced to second on a passed ball putting the go-ahead run in scoring position
  • Rebhan came around to score the go-ahead off a double from Kevin Gelwick
5th Inning:
  • McClusky drew a leadoff walk
  • McClusky advanced to second on a sac bunt 
  • Schmidt singled to score McClusky off second and tie the score at nine runs apiece
7th Inning:
  • Eckerd's Dawson Jones hit a leadoff single then advanced to second on a wild pitch
  • Jones advanced to third on a dropped third strike
  • Bayzdlo singled to score Jones off third and take the lead for Eckerd
8th Inning:
  • Cabina drew a walk
  • Garrido went yard to score himself and Cabina giving the Tritons a 12-9 lead
