Embry-Riddle Drops Series to Eckerd in Double-Header

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — After a triumphant game one against SSC opponent Eckerd, Embry-Riddle fought hard but was unable to clinch the series win. The Eagles fell 8-3 during game three of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Inning:
  • Aiden Schmidt drew a leadoff walk
  • Cooper Schmidt drew a walk as well to put two runners on base for the Eagles
  • Aidan Corn knocked in a single to right field allowing Aiden Schmidt to advance to third, whereas Cooper Schmidt was put out at second 
  • Aiken Santana singled past the third baseman to score Aiden Schmidt, putting the Eagles in the lead
  • Eckerd's Corey Hodierne hit a single up the middle
  • Hodierne advanced to second on a fly ball to center, putting the tying run in scoring position
  • Kam Gelwick knocked in a double to score Hodierne off second and tie the game
  • Christian Cabina homered to left center to score himself and Gelwick off second, grabbing a two run lead for Eckerd
2nd Inning:
  • The Triton's Dawson Jones hit a leadoff single and then stole second to put a run in scoring position for Eckerd
  • Dylan Escobar singled through the left side to score Jones off second
  • Joey Bazydlo recorded a triple to score Escobar off first, improving the Tritons lead to four
  • Bazydlo came around to score on a sac fly earning a 6-1 lead for Eckerd
5th Inning:
  • Aiden Schmidt reached first via a hit-by-pitch
  • Cooper Schmidt drew a walk to put two runners on base for Embry-Riddle
  • Corn singled down the right-field line to score Aiden Schmidt, cutting Eckerd's lead down to four
  • Eckerd's Ean Gimson drew a leadoff walk
  • Hodierne laid down a sacrifice bunt advance Gimson to second
  • Hunter Rebha went yard to score himself and Gimson, improving Eckerd's lead to 8-2
7th Inning:
  • Colin Mastromauro drew a walk
  • Aiden Schmidt also drew a walk to put two runners on base for Embry-Riddle
  • Cooper Schmidt reached first on a fielder's choice that allowed Mastromauro to advance to third, while Aiden Schmidt was out at second
  • Corn knocked in a single to center field to score Mastromauro off third
