Embry-Riddle Dominates in 8-2 Victory Over Edward Waters

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle jumped to an early lead over Edward Waters, but the bats truly began to heat up in the later innings contributing to a dominant 8-2 victory over the Tigers. Redshirt-junior Isaiah Eberheart worked 2.1 innings from the bullpen and dealt a career high seven strikeouts to earn the win.

1st Inning:

3rd Inning:
  • Edward Waters' Daniel Donaldson-Fountain went yard to tie the game at one run apiece
4th Inning:
  • Malachi Peña kicked in a leadoff double to left field to put the go-ahead run in scoring position for the Eagles
  • Derek Lopez drew a walk to put another Eagle on base
  • Max McClusky reached first on a fielder's choice that got Peña out at third and advanced Lopez to second
  • Francisco Feliciano drew a walk to load the bases for Embry-Riddle
  • Schmidt dribbled a single up the middle to score McClusky and Lopez, effectively retaking the lead for Embry-Riddle
7th Inning:
  • Corb reached first off a fielding error from the third basemen and then advanced to second off a wild pitch
  • Drew Clymer drew a walk on a wild pitch that pushed Corn into third base
  • Peña singled past the third baseman to score Corn off third and push Clymer into second
  • Gabriel Acevedo entered as a pinch hitter and knocked in a single to left field to score Clymer off second and put runners on the corners
  • Diego Hornedo then came in as a pinch runner to replace Acevedo at first
  • Lopez drew his second walk of the night to load the bases for the Eagles
  • McClusky hit a single past third base to score Peña off third, increasing Embry-Riddle's lead to six 
8th Inning:
  • Cole Bullen launched a leadoff single to left center then stole second to put another run in scoring position for the Blue and Gold
  • Bullen advanced to third off a wild pitch
  • Clymer kicked in a double to center field to score Bullen off third and give the Eagles an 8-1 lead
9th inning:
  • The Tiger's Adrian Ramos came in a pinch hitter and reached first via a hit-by-pitch
  • Keeanu Morel entered as a pinch hitter for the Tigers and drew a walk to put two runners on base for Edward Waters
  • Luis Nunez reached first off a throwing error by the second baseman that allowed Ramos to score unearned
