Baseball Trounces Flagler, 9-1, in Tuesday Evening Matchup

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team continued its offensive surge from its series against Florida Tech, scoring nine runs to down the Saints. Max McClusky and Cole Bullen led the Eagles with six combined hits.

  • The Eagles improved to 54-37 all-time against Flagler College. 
  • Embry-Riddle and Flagler have split the last four matchups, with the latest going in favor of the Blue & Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Embry-Riddle jumped on the Saints early in the second inning, capitalizing on an error before stringing together four hits. Aiden Schmidt, McClusky, and Bullen all delivered RBIs as the Eagles plated four runs to take immediate control.
  • The Eagles applied pressure defensively early, as a double play and clean fielding kept the Saints off the scoreboard through the first three innings.
  • Flagler found its lone run in the fourth inning after a leadoff double and RBI single, but the Eagles limited the damage with a double play followed by a groundout to end the inning.
  • Embry-Riddle responded in the sixth, using aggressive baserunning and defensive miscues to extend the lead. Collin Mastromauro drove in a run and later scored on a Bullen single to push the advantage to 6-1.
  • The Eagles' pitching staff remained in control throughout, working around scattered baserunners while keeping the Saints off the scoreboard in eight of nine innings.
  • Embry-Riddle added the finishing touch in the ninth, as McClusky delivered a two-RBI double down the line before Francisco Feliciano followed with an RBI single to give the Blue & Gold a comfortable eight-run lead.
INSIDE THE STATS
  • Keegan Perez earned his second victory of the season, tossing five innings with three strikeouts.
  • Isaiah Eberhart led the Eagles with four strikeouts in just two innings pitched.
  • This marked the third consecutive game with more than 10 hits for Embry-Riddle.
