Embry-Riddle Splits Doubleheader Against Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – It was a tale of two games offensively as the Embry-Riddle Eagles split a doubleheader with the Nova Southeastern Sharks. Game one was a tough outing for the Eagles, as they fell 19-2, but they bounced back in game two with an 8-2 victory.

• The Eagles snapped their five-game losing streak to the Sharks in game two.
• The series now stands at 28-44.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Embry-Riddle got the scoring started early as Cole Bullen hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
• The Sharks responded in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on four hits.
• Nova Southeastern added three more runs on four hits in the bottom of the second.
• Embry-Riddle recorded hits from Collin Mastromauro and Aidan Corn in the top of the third but could not capitalize, leaving a runner on base after hitting into a double play to end the inning.
• The Sharks extended their lead to 8-1 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third.
• Nova Southeastern added five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth.
• In the sixth, the Sharks scored six runs on four hits and an error.
• The Eagles plated their second run of the game on Derek Lopez's RBI double, scoring Brad Salamone.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Just like game one, the Eagles struck first in the top of the first inning with the bases loaded thanks to an Aidan Corn double and walks from Tripp Schroeder and Torin Foley. Jack Beyl drew an RBI walk to give Embry-Riddle a 1-0 lead.
• The Eagles added two more runs in the third. Foley delivered an RBI single to score Corn, and Dylan Bruno followed with an RBI fielder's choice to bring home Schroeder.
• In the fourth, Corn added another RBI single, scoring Aiden Schmidt to extend the lead to 4-0.
• The Sharks got on the board with a run in the bottom of the inning.
• Embry-Riddle extended its lead in the sixth as Foley and Derek Lopez each recorded RBI doubles, combining to score three runs.
• Nova Southeastern added a run in the ninth, but it was not enough as the Eagles secured the 8-2 win.
 
UP NEXT
Embry-Riddle returns to action Tuesday, April 28 at 11 a.m. against Flagler at Sliwa Stadium.
