Michala Daniels Leads Embry-Riddle to Runner-Up Finish at SSC Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's track team finished as the runner-up at the second-ever Sunshine State Conference Championship. The Eagles won five of the 12 events but were outdueled by Tampa's depth, specifically in the hurdles.

Highlight Performances
  • Michala Daniels stole the show, winning three individual events while also helping the 4x100m relay team capture gold. Daniels won the 100m in 11.97, the 200m in 24.74, and the 100m hurdles in 14.23. She now holds the second-fastest time in program history in the 100m, the third-fastest in the 100m hurdles, and the fourth-fastest in the 200m.
  • Laura McBride came from behind, outkicking the field over the final 100 meters to win the 800m in 2:10.61, an NCAA Division II provisional mark. McBride also placed third in the 400 meters, running 56.46.
  • The 4x100m relay team of Olivia Worrell, Daniels, Anna Engelman and Mikaela Miles won the event in 47.29.
  • Taylor Roth ran 2:08.55 in the 800-meter prelims on Friday, the 21st-fastest time in NCAA Division II this season. She also doubled back Saturday, running 4:31.54 in the 1500 meters to place second while recording the fourth-fastest time in program history.
  • Graci Flaherty finished eighth in the 10,000m Friday night, posting the third-fastest time in program history at 38:24.01.
