GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Embry-Riddle's women's track and field trio of Alexandra Baltazar Hall, Mikaela Miles and Laura McBride were named First Team Academic All-Americans by College Sports Communicators on Wednesday afternoon. It was the first time any of the three received the honor.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, have at least sophomore standing both academically and athletically, and post a top-50 performance at the regional championship in cross country or a top-50 regional ranking in a single event during the indoor or outdoor track and field season.

In addition to their Academic All-American honors, Miles and McBride were named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll for track and field, while all three were selected to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team.

Hailing from Romania, Baltazar Hall competed at the NCAA II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the discus, earning a second-team All-American performance. She also excelled in the classroom with a perfect 4.00 GPA while working toward her master's degree in human factors psychology.

McBride joined Baltazar Hall in competing at her first NCAA II national championship, running the 800m and earning a second-team All-American nod. McBride graduated with a master's degree in space operations and a 4.00 GPA.

Miles was the NCAA II indoor national champion in the triple jump and the outdoor national runner-up, capping off one of the most decorated careers in Embry-Riddle track and field history. She finished her academic career with a 3.75 cumulative GPA in aeronautical science.

The Academic All-American honors were a fitting capstone to an outstanding season for the Eagles. Embry-Riddle sent a record number of student-athletes to the NCAA II Championships while also capturing both the indoor and outdoor Peach Belt Conference team titles. The outdoor crown was the program's eighth consecutive conference championship, while the indoor title marked the third in a row.
