No. 2 Women’s Rowing Finishes Weekend at Division II Invite

| By:
CLERMONT, Fla. — No. 2 Embry-Riddle women's rowing had a competitive weekend as they faced seven of the top nine programs in Division II according to the latest CRCA rankings at the D2 Invite. The Eagles brought both their V8+ and V4+ boats as each boat was able to compete in three races throughout the weekend.

The teams got started at 4:30 on Friday afternoon, with the opening race seeing the V8+ bring home a third-place finish at a time of 7:05.6. Each of the top three boats in the race finished within five seconds of each other.

The conditions were much tougher for the V4+ boats, with the Blue and Gold crossing the finish line at 8:30.6, which was enough to start the weekend with back-to-back podium finishes. The V4+ for ERAU was able to get the better of Barry, Rollins, and Nova in the race.

On Saturday morning, the V8+ finished in 4th place in each of their races, but had a 25-second improvement from the first race to the next. After finishing at 7:33.4 in the opening race, the boat had improved to a time of 7:08.2. The top four stayed the same in each race, with the Eagles finishing behind Vanderbilt, Cal Poly Humboldt, and Seattle Pacific.

It was another day of improvement for the V4+, finishing in third place before earning a runner-up finish in the next race. Fellow SSC school, Nova Southeastern, won the opening race, with the next four boats crossing the finish line within 10 seconds of the Sharks. NSU won the last V4+ race of the weekend, narrowly beating ERAU by 1.5 seconds after Embry-Riddle finished at 8:07.6.
